The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929. To be considered for NJHS, students have to meet the 3.75 GPA requirement and from there an application will be delivered to students selected. The application process is very thorough, asking students to elaborate on their leadership, service, and character qualities. The areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character area all equally important when considering potential members for the organization. Only 8th grade students are considered for NJHS.
