MVMS

February 1, 2026

Hello MVMS Families,

What a week it’s been! Our staff, students, and families rose to the challenge, navigating eLearning, Virtual Learning, and two-hour delays with flexibility and care. We are truly grateful for the time, patience, and intentional routines you created to ensure students could stay focused on learning—even as the snow (and frigid temperatures!) fell outside. We are always striving to recognize successes and problem-solve challenges that may occur and request that you take a moment to offer feedback regarding this week’s Virtual Learning Days (Tuesday and Wednesday).

ILEARN checkpoint #2 and the Flying ACES celebration will occur this week. Please make sure your child charges their Chromebook nightly.
Thank you for your partnership and all you did to make a challenging week feel steady, supportive, and successful.

Have a great week!
Dr. Lori Katz, MVMS Principal

Important School Reminders

Chromebook Use & Care Expectations

  • Bring Your Device Daily: Chromebooks are a required instructional tool. Students should bring their device to school every day, just like a textbook or notebook.

  • Charged Chromebooks: Students are expected to bring their Chromebook to school fully charged each day. Uncharged devices significantly disrupt learning time.

  • Care of Devices: Students will use the same Chromebook for the next two school years, so careful handling is essential. This includes keeping devices protected, clean, and free from damage.

Thank you for partnering with us to help students stay prepared and responsible. These small habits make a big difference in maximizing learning time for everyone

From the School Nurse

We are running very low on spare clothes in the nurse's office. If anyone has any gently used pants/ leggings/ shorts for women or men to donate we would greatly appreciate it! It is always a good idea to pack an extra set in your child's backpack as well because we don't have much to give out!
Thank you,
Angela and Katie, MVMS nurses

Reporting an Absence

Reporting an Absence
If your student will be absent, please notify the school by 10:00 AM using one of the following methods:
Important Notes:
  • Absence documentation must be submitted within 3 days of the absence.
  • If the student is sick for 3 or more days, a doctor’s note is required for the absence to be excused.
  • For any doctor, dental, or other appointments, a provider’s excuse note is needed for the time missed to be excused.

Picking Students up Early
If your student needs to be picked up early, please notify the school ahead of time to ensure a smooth process:
Please include the following in your message:
  • Student’s name
  • Name of the person picking student up
  • Time of pickup

Parents, please be aware: We close the entrance off of State Road 234 at 3:20 PM for our car rider line. If you plan to pick up your child early, please do so before 3:20 PM, as the entrance will no longer be accessible after that time.

***For safety reasons, individuals must be at least 18 years old to sign a student out of school.***
