Hello MVMS Families,
What a week! High school counselors were onsite to meet with each of our 8th graders, and we had the joy of hosting an informational meeting for our incoming 6th grade families. It’s a season of looking ahead — new buildings, new schedules, new opportunities. During times of transition, it can be easy to focus so much on what’s next that we forget to fully embrace what is right in front of us. There is still important learning, growth, and connection happening each day at MVMS, and we want our students to finish strong.
As we move into the final quarter of the year, this is also a good time to revisit expectations. In accordance with Indiana law, students may not use cell phones or smart watches during the school day. These devices should be turned off and stored in lockers from arrival until dismissal. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing this expectation at home so that our classrooms remain focused, calm, and distraction-free for all learners.
Let’s work together to make this final stretch a strong and positive one for every student.
Have a great week!
Dr. Lori Katz, MVMS Principal

📣Join MVMS Beginning Band!! 📣
We want YOU! Yes, YOU in band!!!
Students with no previous experience in band currently in 6th or 7th grade have the option of joining the Concert Band class next year. Concert band is a middle school beginning band that will allow students to join the band program! The class focuses on music literacy, learning a new instrument, and musical skills needed to join the MVMS Gold Band or the MVHS Symphonic Band next year!
Catfishing Awareness
We want to remind families to talk with students about online safety, especially catfishing—when someone pretends to be someone else online. This can happen on Social Media Platforms or Gaming Platforms. Encourage your child to be cautious about who they interact with, avoid sharing personal information, and let a trusted adult know if something online feels confusing or uncomfortable. Open conversations at home help keep students safe and confident online
