Hello MVMS Families,
Thank you for all you did to support students to do their best on ILEARN this week. Students have worked hard all year to master state standards, and we are confident that they were able to show what they know this week. Students who were unable to participate last week will have the opportunity to make up their testing this week.
MVMS will continue to serve as a 2026 Midterm Primary Election Early Voting Center until May 4th. Please continue to use our normal car rider pick-up procedures on these days.
Teacher Appreciation Week is right around the corner. Consider reaching out to teachers who have made a positive impact on your child and their learning journey!
Have a great week!
Dr. Lori Katz, MVMS Principal

Showing up is a skill for life
Attendance isn’t just about school — it’s about building habits for adulthood. Showing up consistently teaches responsibility, time management, perseverance, and accountability.
These habits matter in future jobs, relationships, and commitments. Helping students build strong attendance routines now supports long-term success far beyond middle school.

If you are interested in taking summer school Prep for College & Careers (PCC) or Computing Foundations at MVHS, please complete the registration form below. Please complete the form no later than May 1st, 2026.
Summer school will run from June 1st to June 25th (Monday - Thursday), 9am-12pm. Summer school is not open on Fridays.
PCC & Computing Foundations will be conducted primarily online with students being registered through our Plato software. Students can work at their own pace, however a pacing guide is turned on to help students complete the class on time. Students will need to come into the building during summer school hours to take all of their post-tests as well as the final. (students do not need to come in to take the mastery tests, however they are encouraged to come in as much as they like to get help).
Teachers will be available between the hours of 9 am-12 pm, Monday through Thursday from June 1st-June 25th to assist students with any questions they might have.
If you have already taken PCC at the middle school, then you have already earned your PCC credit and cannot take this again.
An email will be sent to those who signed up for summer school the week of May 26th with information on how to access your summer class and the teachers who are overseeing the class.
Please email your high school counselor with any additional questions!

Our school life value terms help guide positive choices each day: Redo, Be Kind, Focus on Your Task, and With Respect.
In April, MVMS’s social-emotional lessons will focus on and revisit our life value term With Respect. Students will learn about communication, choices, and how to treat others. Together, we’re building a caring and respectful school community.

Care Closet
This closet is filled with various “basic needs” items for our Mt. Vernon Middle school students. More and more students visit the counseling department needing toiletries, clothing, food, etc. When our students’ basic needs are not met they are unable to learn. We will be forever grateful for any donations!! Please take a look at our Amazon wish list. Thank you in advance for helping our students! ❤️
Catfishing Awareness
We want to remind families to talk with students about online safety, especially catfishing—when someone pretends to be someone else online. This can happen on Social Media Platforms or Gaming Platforms. Encourage your child to be cautious about who they interact with, avoid sharing personal information, and let a trusted adult know if something online feels confusing or uncomfortable. Open conversations at home help keep students safe and confident online
