May 10, 2026

Hello MVMS Families,

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we want to encourage all students to stay focused and finish strong. Our final round of standardized testing begins Monday and Tuesday with NWEA assessments, and we appreciate your support in helping students arrive rested, prepared, and ready to do their best. Please ensure that students are charging their ChromeBooks nightly.

We also want to sincerely thank the many families who reached out during Teacher Appreciation Week to share kind words and encouragement with our staff. Your support means a great deal and helps make our school community so special. Let’s keep the momentum going and make these last few weeks a successful finish to a great year!

Have a great week!
Dr. Lori Katz, MVMS Principal

Counseling Corner
Our school life value terms help guide positive choices each day: Redo, Be Kind, Focus on Your Task, and With Respect.

As we wrap things up this month for the 25/26 school year, students are working on thinking about their future, looking at graduation plans, and learning about working together during their Advisory periods on Wednesdays. We are eager to end the year STRONG!!

Care Closet
This closet is filled with various “basic needs” items for our Mt. Vernon Middle school students. More and more students visit the counseling department needing toiletries, clothing, food, etc. When our students’ basic needs are not met they are unable to learn. We will be forever grateful for any donations!! Please take a look at our Amazon wish list. Thank you in advance for helping our students! ❤️

Teletherapy Option
Cartwheel provides rapid access to evidence-based 1-1 teletherapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, parent guidance, and family therapy.

Catfishing Awareness
We want to remind families to talk with students about online safety, especially catfishing—when someone pretends to be someone else online. This can happen on Social Media Platforms or Gaming Platforms. Encourage your child to be cautious about who they interact with, avoid sharing personal information, and let a trusted adult know if something online feels confusing or uncomfortable. Open conversations at home help keep students safe and confident online
