MVMS

May 17, 2026

Hello MVMS Families,

As we enter the last full week of school, it is hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by. Thank you for your continued partnership and support throughout the school year. We are especially grateful to our PTO for the many ways they have stepped up to celebrate, encourage, and support both our staff and students all year long. Their generosity and dedication help make our school community such a positive place for everyone.

As excitement for summer continues to build, we want to remind students that our expectations for learning, behavior, attendance, and effort remain in place through the final day of school. These last days are important opportunities to finish assignments, stay engaged, support one another, and end the year on a positive note. Let’s continue working together to help students stay focused and finish strong.

For our 8th grade families, dance picture information and the access code can be found below. Please also be sure to review the information regarding the promotion ceremony in the “Upcoming Dates” section of this newsletter.

Have a great week!
Dr. Lori Katz, MVMS Principal

7th Grade Parents Please Read - Required Graduation Planned Verification

The Indiana Graduation Plan is a requirement (IC 20-32-4-1.5) for students in 7th grade. This plan follows your child through middle and high school and will change as your child's interests/goals change. Nothing they have selected is permanent. It is your child's personal roadmap for high school and beyond. Specifically, it guides them as they begin considering:

  • What he/she might want to do after high school
  • What classes he/she should take
  • What goals he/she wants to reach

Students began working on this plan during Advisory time. A component of the requirement is that a parent must sign off to indicate they have reviewed the plan. In order to review the plan,

1. Visit your child's Canvas page, titled "2031 Advisory Course - SUCCESS".
2. Go to Modules on the left-hand side.
3. Scroll to the bottom and choose "Class of 2031 Graduation Plan"

Please sign off on or before Monday, May 18th. Reach out to Kaitlin Baldwin, Counselor for 2031, at Kaitlin.Baldwin@mvcsc.k12.in.us if you have questions.

8th Grade PE & Wellness Update for 2026-2027 School Year

Starting next school year, all 8th grade students will be enrolled in PE 1 in place of Wellness 8. This change ensures students continue to receive the required health instruction while also participating in a semester physical education course. As part of this shift, students will earn high school credit during their 8th grade year. We are excited to offer this option as a way to support both student wellness and academic advancement.
